The purpose of Child Find is to Identify, Locate and Evaluate children from ages from birth to 21 years with a disability or suspected disabilities and their possible need for special education and related services. Child Find is a free service through Amigos Por Vida.
Amigos Por Vida provides Child Find information through the school’s website, Parent Universities, staff training, and printed information available in the front office.
We provide a variety of services for eligible children with a disability in one or more of the following areas: Auditory Impairment, Autism, Deaf Blindness, Emotional Disturbance, Intellectual Disability, Other Health Impairment, Orthopedic Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Speech Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Visual Impairment.
Texas Education Code (TEC) §38.003 defines dyslexia and related disorders in the following way: “Dyslexia” means a disorder of constitutional origin manifested by a difficulty in learning to read, write, or spell, despite conventional instruction, adequate intelligence, and sociocultural opportunity. “Related disorders” include disorders similar to or related to dyslexia, such as developmental auditory imperception, dysphasia, specific developmental dyslexia, developmental dysgraphia, and developmental spelling disability.
